O’Level Subject Subject Combination For Library and Information Science Course
To study Library and Information Science in any university in Nigeria, it is required to have Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant Arts/Science/Social Science subjects.
UTME Subjects Combination For Library and Information Science Course
English Language is compulsory for all courses. The other three subjects required for Library and Information Science under the Faculty of Education in the institutions are: Any three subjects.
Direct Entry Requirements for Library and Information Science
Two A’ level passes in relevant subject plus UTME requirements.
(ii) NCE (merit) in relevant subjects.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
Waiver For UTME Candidates
(i) UMYU requires five O/Level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and any other three Social Science/Arts/Science subjects.
(ii) TASUED requires five credits at one sitting or six credits at two sittings.
(iv) UNN requires University minimum entry requirements with five O’ level credit passes, including the subject to be combined with Library and Information Science. The following additional requirements apply to particular combination:
(a) Credit in Mathematics for Library and Information Science/Physics and Library and Information Science/Economics.
(b) Credit in Mathematics/Physics for Library and Information Science/ Chemistry.
(c) Pass in Mathematics for those combining library and Information Science with Botany, Geography/Physics, Political Science or Zoology.
(d) Credit in English Language for those combining Library and Information Science with French, History or Political Science.
(e) credit in English Literature for Library and Information Science/English.
(v) ABSU requires Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language, four other subjects and at least a pass in Mathematics.
(vi) KSU accepts a pass in Mathematics and credit passes in four other relevant subjects including English Language.
(vii) UNIBEN accepts five O’ level credit passes at not more than two sittings.
(viii) UNIJOS requires five credit passes in WASCE or NECO at not more than two sittings including English Language. Accepts a pass in Mathematics.
Waiver For Direct Entry Candidates
(i) ABU and BUK accept NCE merit provided such candidates have two years working experience.
(ii) UMYU accepts NCE in addition to five credit passes at O/Level or its equivalent.
(iii) UNN accepts D/E candidates who hold one of the following
(a) NCE with at least merit in Library and Information Science or the subject being combined with library and Information Sciences.
(b) Higher School Certificate/GCE Advanced level in at least two subjects, including that to be combined with Library and Information Science.
(iv) UNIOSUN same as in Vocational and Technical Education
(v) UNIBEN accepts:
a. Two (2) passes in relevant subject areas at Advanced Level with SSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level credit passes in three (3) other subjects in not more than two (2) sittings
b. Three (3) passes in relevant subject areas at Advanced level with SSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level credit passes in two (2) other subjects in not more than two (2) sittings
c. At least Merit in two (2) major subjects in relevant areas in the NCE with SSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level Credi
